PCI-DSS in Public Transport

Open Loop (cEMV) payments in Public Transport have been around for over 10 years already, however the global adoption rate is still quite small. One of the major impacts of the introduction of Open Loop is the adherence to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).

This new type of certification, for the Public Transport sector, has impact on all parties in the payment chain starting at the validator in the vehicle or a gate at the station, going through the back-office solution of the Public Transport operator to the PSP or Acquiring Bank.

Ralynx has been involved in the establishment of the PCI-DSS certification for the Dutch Public Transport chain from the start of the development of the new national ID Based Ticketing Solution in 2014. We are currently supporting the Solution Provider in yearly PCI-DSS certifications.
